Our Mission in Action

Hadassah International Supports the
Hadassah Medical Center's Cutting-Edge Care and Research

Everyone loves exciting events! Hadassah France, Austria, Switzerland, New Zealand, and United Kingdom are famous for concerts with prestigious musicians, film and opera premieres, art auctions and viewings, elegant luncheons, and gala dinners. These events raise substantial funds for the Hadassah Medical Organization and raise awareness among countless numbers of people about Hadassah’s work.

AIDS prevention in Ethiopia

Eyesight is a precious treasure. Hadassah Luxembourg NGO’s (non-governmental organization) partnership with the Luxembourg government’s Ministry of Cooperation and the Hadassah Medical Organization has helped to alleviate blindness in Africa. Hadassah Luxembourg NGO contributed to Hadassah’s extensive AIDS treatment and prevention program in Ethiopia, saving countless lives.

Technological tools make miracles happen. Hadassah France contributed money for a PET-cyclotron, an imaging tool that gives doctors functional images of the human body, and a lithotripter, which uses high-energy shock waves to break up kidney stones.

Lokomat
Hadassah
Austria, United Kingdom, and France raised money for a state-of-the-art computerized treadmill and hydraulic lift called a Lokomat, enabling patients with spinal injuries to walk again. Hadassah Austria provided funds for a computer that, with a digital camera, relays images of a victim’s injuries to the trauma unit—in real time.

Funds from Hadassah Gibraltar enhance Hadassah’s pediatric oncology department. “Help the Jews Home” of Norway, a long-time organizational supporter of Hadassah, has donated funds to retrain Russian and Ethiopian immigrants for health careers at Hadassah Hospital.

Hadassah International units support the Hadassah Medical Organization’s highly successful Hospital Clown Program. The medically trained clowns work with physicians to facilitate treatment for frightened children undergoing difficult medical procedures.

Facilitated by the vision and financial support of Canadian Hadassah-WIZO, the Hadassah Medical Organization embarked on a cooperative venture with Canada’s Sunnybrook Hospital. Hadassah

Through international nursing symposia, Hadassah International provides foreign health professionals with unique educational opportunities not available otherwise.  These renowned seminars have brought Hadassah expertise to Argentina, Mexico, Panama, Spain and Venezuela.

Dr. Muhizi from Rwanda
Thanks to funds raised by Hadassah Luxembourg NGO, a Rwandan physician was trained as an ophthalmologist at Hadassah. He now has a state-of-the-art ophthalmology clinic in
Rwanda, the only one around for thousands of miles, with all of his equipment provided by Hadassah.

Realizing that Turkey and other countries around the world could benefit from an association with the Hadassah Medical Organization, Aytúl Gökce, wife of the Turkish ambassador to Israel, decided to form an Israel-based unit for ambassadors and their wives. Called the Hadassah International Corps Diplomatique, this unit creates awareness about the Hadassah Medical Organization in the diplomatic community. This led to a collaborative relationship between Hacettepe University Hospital's School of Medicine in Ankara, Turkey and the Hadassah Medical Organization.
