A team of researchers led by Dr. Sarah Sallon, Director of The Louis L. Borick Natural Medicine Research Center (NMRC) at the Hadassah Medical Center, has succeeded in growing a 2,000-year-old date seed, the oldest ever to be germinated. Details of the research appear in the June 13, 2008 issue of Science Magazine in an article entitled “Germination, Genetics, and Growth of an Ancient Date Seed.”

A Jerusalem street has been named in memory of Former Hadassah Medical Center Director-General Dr. Haim Yassky, who was murdered along with 78 other Hadassah health professionals when their convoy was ambushed on its way up to Hadassah-Hospital-Mount Scopus in April 1948 as it attempted to bring medical supplies to the hospital.
