| Message from Trisha Margulies, President |
 | |
 | |
Dear Hadassah International Family,
|
 |
 |
In this, my first message to you as your President, I want to convey how honored I feel to be at the helm of this wonderful Hadassah family. The first event I attended was such a stellar one: the inaugural Young Hadassah International Conference in Rome, Italy. Being at that Conference, meeting with dynamic young people from around the world, seeing their passion for the Hadassah Medical Center and our values, their respect and sense of collegiality with each other, and their enthusiasm about spreading the Hadassah message and our mission, gave me a deep appreciation of the power of our global network.
It's about our hearts, minds, and souls. We truly are a Hadassah family. Whether we live in Chicago, as I do, or London, or Mexico City, or Melbourne, we are united by our commitment to contribute to a healthier world. We are a family that seeks results and are willing to put in the effort to achieve them.
My trip to Hong Kong for our inaugural event there was extremely uplifting. We had been invited by the Hong Kong community to introduce Hadassah International in their city. We were so warmly welcomed by many different, diverse people, representing the fields of medicine and academia and various synagogues.
We showcased Hadassah International?s new video, which tells the story of the Hadassah Medical Center as a premier institution of healing, teaching, and research, and a bridge to peace around the world. Prof. Elliot Berry, head of Hadassah?s Department of Human Nutrition and Metabolism, gave a presentation about ?The Ten Lifestyle Commandments.? The excitement about the nature of our organization was palpable. They were eager to establish a Hadassah International unit in Hong Kong. I could feel the admiration for our inclusiveness, our mission of universal health care without discrimination, and our Medical Center?s generosity in reaching out to share its medical expertise with countries all over the world.
I was able to meet with our leaders of France, Switzerland, and Germany, all of whom share a unified passion for our mission and work daily to make a difference for health and peace.
We are the future. And we are the face of Israel the world wants?and needs?to see.
I look forward to meeting and working with each of you during the coming year.
With Wishes for a Year of Peace,
Trisha Trisha S. MarguliesBack to top |
