Carla Bruni-Sarkozy was the guest of honor March 5 at a glitzy fund-raiser in Paris for Hadassah Medical Organization’s hospital in Jerusalem and its global medical aid programs.

Hadassah Switzerland-Geneva’s Antoine Garreau negotiated a unique deal to spread the word about Hadassah International: In exchange for Garreau’s sponsoring a team at the three-day Megève Polo Masters tournament in the French Alps, Hadassah was publicized in the program and the team displayed the Hadassah International logo both on their pants and their horses! Many of their fellow competitors as well as journalists asked about the logo and what it represented.

Following on the heels of a Hadassah Mexico-orchestrated whirlwind visit last fall, Hadassah Medical Center Director General Prof. Shlomo Mor-Yosef returned to Mexico in the beginning of February to explore and strengthen philanthropic ties and professional medical exchanges.

With Director Daniele Thompson and Principal Actors Pierre Arditi and Patrick Chesnais in attendance, Hadassah France hosted the premiere of the movie, Le Code A Changé‘ (The Entry Code has Changed) in the historic Theatre Edouard VII, and introduced Hadassah to many new people.

At a gala Munich event at the end of January, Hadassah Germany announced with pride the beginning of a collaborative venture between the Hadassah Medical Center and the Nicolaidis Stiftung GmbH Foundation entitled “Brücken Verbinden Nationen” (“Building Bridges to Nations”) to support psychological treatment for Jerusalem’s children who seek help from Hadassah’s Jerusalem Crisis Intervention Center (JCIC).

At Hadassah Cuba’s latest meeting, aside from receiving an update on the latest achievements of the Hadassah Medical Center, participants gave a warm send-off to Vice President Dr. Rebeca Tur Behar, who moved to Israel last month. Dr. Tur Behar, pharmacist, long-time volunteer, and the daughter-in-law of President of Hadassah Cuba Dr. Rose Behar, has volunteered in Hadassah Cuba’s Communitarian Pharmacy, which provides medicines to those in need, and presented health lectures to local children. She has also represented Young Hadassah Cuba on visits to Argentina and Canada.

With the theme of “Igniting the Power of Women,” Canadian Hadassah-WIZO (CHW) hosted its 39th National Convention in Calgary, Alberta, where Hadassah Medical Center’s Director General Prof. Shlomo Mor-Yosef enlightened the delegates about Hadassah’s vast impact on Jerusalem, the Middle East, and throughout the world. “It was so exciting to hear Prof. Mor-Yosef’s passion about this leading-edge institution that is so much more than a hospital,” comments Terry Schwarzfeld, CHW’s new National President.

With about 800 people in attendance, Hadassah France hosted the movie premiere of Les Insurgés (Defiance) in Paris on January 7, with special guest appearances by Principal Actor Daniel Craig and Director Edward Zwick, raising 40,000 euros for the Hadassah Medical Center’s new Stroke Center of Excellence.

Commemorating the 60th anniversary of the State of Israel and honoring the richness and diversity of its culture, the Belgian association, “Les XXI,” under the presidency of Dr. Yves Jacques, organized a series of three concerts and an art exhibit in Brussels in coordination with the Israeli Embassy and its Ambassador, HE Tamar Samash.
