While on a solidarity mission to Israel sponsored by The World Zionist Organization, delegations from Argentina and Chile visited Hadassah Hospital and had the opportunity to meet with ten Hadassah physicians and researchers, all from Argentina or Chile.

When nine-year-old Melanie Cornstein suddenly found herself covered with red spots, she was advised to have a blood test. It revealed some irregularities and the doctor in her home country of Chile told her parents, “I advise you to fly to Israel and see Professor Shimon Slavin. He's the best doctor in the world to save your daughter."

News Anchor Elizabeth Alex from Kansas, United States, met Intisar Al-Dalau while reporting from Gaza. Intisar’s daughter had a club foot and Ms. Alex arranged for mother and daughter to come to Kansas to have the child treated. While there, Intisar, who was pregnant, had some prenatal testing done. The baby, it was discovered, had a fatal, complicated heart defect that would cause his death if not treated immediately after delivery.

For the past 10 years, doctors at Hadassah’s Sharett Institute of Oncology have been vaccinating melanoma patients after removing their metastatic melanoma. What is unique at Hadassah is the long-term nature of the vaccination regimen. According to the medical literature, these patients usually have only a 20 percent chance of survival, but Hadassah patients with the same condition who receive long-term follow up have a survival rate of 45 percent.

Facilitated by the initiative of Hadassah Australia in Melbourne, the Hadassah Medical Organization’s Dr. Esti Galili, Head of the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, forged connections with medical institutions and community leaders in Australia through a whirlwind week of speaking engagements. Dr. Galili is also director of Hadassah’s new Jerusalem Crisis Intervention Center (JCIC), a fundraising project of Hadassah Australia. Accompanied by Hadassah International President Marlene Post, Dr. Galili began with a presentation at Monash University at the invitation of its renowned Krongold Centre, which offers psychological services and assessment to children and adults with special needs, as well as gifted children. Ever since Hadassah International held its Annual Conference in Nice, France last year, the French Conseil Représentatif des Institutions Juives de France (CRIF), the umbrella organization of French Jewish organizations, has been sending delegations to the Hadassah Medical Center for briefings. The latest to visit was a group of more than 50 young journalism students and their professors.
