After being approached by Director of Hadassah Germany Gady Gronich, Minstrel Musician Marcus van Langen agreed to donate funds from his latest CD sales to the Hadassah Medical Center. This particular CD included 20 songs from the Middle Ages, and featured a famous Palestinian tune about the “Holyland,” written in the 1200s.

Close to 100 people attended a Hadassah Germany panel presentation featuring an Arab and a Jewish Israeli, entitled “Can Opposites Connect—Two Israelis in Dialogue.” The presenters were Dr. Mohammed Saif-Alden Wattad, an attorney, and Efraim Lapid, Brigadier General and Senior Intelligence Officer for the Israel Defense Forces, with the dialogue moderated by Professor Andreas Bönte, Bavarian Television’s Program Manager for Planning and Development.

The Chief Rabbi of Panama, Rabbi Sion Levy, in the presence of the Chief Rabbi of Israel, Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Amar, and over 150 of his Panamanian compatriots, was honored with a cornerstone dedication ceremony at the Fannie and Maxwell Abbell Synagogue at Hadassah University Hospital, marking the donation of one million dollars by a Panamanian family to the Sarah Wetsman Davidson Tower in the Panamanian Rabbi's honor.

Hadassah Germany set up a stand at the Christlicher Gesundheitskongress (Christian Health Congress) in Kassel during the end of March, with hundreds of participants stopping by to learn about Hadassah.

Close friends, representatives from Hadassah Australia, past and present Hadassah presidents, and representatives from the Hadassah Medical Center, all came together to dedicate the Jerusalem Crisis Intervention Center, the special fundraising project of Hadassah Australia, in memory of Celia Freshman, major donor from Melbourne, Australia .

Hadassah Mexico opened doors to many segments of the Mexican communities in Mexico City and Monterrey for the Hadassah Medical Center, when the unit hosted Prof. Yaacov Naparstek, Chairman of Hadassah Hospital-Ein Kerem’s Department of Medicine, for a lecture series and get-togethers with prominent Mexican families. Seven events later, $250,000 was pledged for the Sarah Wetsman Davidson Tower.

Commemorating the 60th anniversary of the State of Israel, Hadassah Switzerland-Zurich hosted an orchestral concert featuring The Thelma Yellin Youth Symphony Orchestra from Givatayim, Israel, under the patronage of HE Ilan Elgar, Israel’s Ambassador to Switzerland.
